En Fonseca, La Guajira, conmemoran edición 49 del Festival del Retorno

Del 25 al 28 de agosto del presente año, se realiza una edición más del Festival del Retorno y con ella, entre muchas otras innovaciones, la junta organizadora del evento saca a la luz pública el legado cultural de un pueblo que desde el siglo XVIII existe en el sur de La Guajira.
El Festival del Retorno inspirado en la vida, obra y legado del maestro José Hilario Gómez Toncel y este año concertado con el Ministerio de Cultura y respaldado por la administración municipal “Unidos Podemos”, en cabeza de su alcalde Hamilton García Peñaranda.
El director ejecutivo de la junta organizadora del Festival del Retorno 2023 Jacobo Senen Solano Parodi dijo que: “La premiación del 49 Festival del Retorno está garantizada para entregar en la tarima Tierra de Cantores, para los concursos de acordeón aficionado, canción inédita, piquería mayores y piquería infantil”.
El Festival del Retorno congrega a los fonsequeros y habitantes de los municipios vecinos, resto del país y Venezuela, en una reunión anual, en donde ademas se rinde culto al patrono San Agustín.
En el Festival se exaltan manifestaciones folclóricas, religiosas y culturales de gran importancia en el proceso de formación de Fonseca como comunidad socialmente organizada, se incentiva su reconocimiento a las generaciones jóvenes para que permanezca siempre en la memoria de los habitantes de esta región.
Este evento tiene como filosofía congregar en torno a Fonseca a todos aquellos fonsequeros ausentes desde hace tiempo y reafirmar en ellos a través de eventos folclóricos la raigambre cultural y religiosa que soportan su origen y su identidad. También se pone en escena todos sus valores culturales y religiosos delante de los turistas que visitan el municipio desde diferentes partes de Colombia y del exterior.
Busca el Festival, hacer honor a sus folcloristas y resaltar la labor de los fonsequeros que se destacan en el ámbito nacional e internacional. Se premiarán con la máxima distinción a través del concejo municipal con la medalla “El Higuito de Oro”.
En esta distinción está representado el árbol insignia de la población: El Higuito o Laurel de la India, símbolo vegetal que identifica a la junta organizadora del Retorno y a los fonsequeros.
Eventos folclóricos como el baile de “La Colita” están presentes en el Festival; el baile de colita abierta – colita cerrá, encabeza el desfile inaugural. Se destaca también la presentación y consumo del plato típico “La iguana con coco”, así mismo se desarrollan en la tarima “Tierra de Cantores” los concursos de acordeón aficionado, canción inédita, piquería mayores, piquería infantil, encuentros, exposiciones de artesanías Wayuu, foros y simposio médico, el banquete de la confraternidad, eventos deportivos y danzas.
El bautizo
Es sin duda alguna la especialidad más grande e importante del evento, esta idea nace desde el primer Festival, en casa del señor Francisco Toncel Daza quien en compañía de Fermín Peralta, Rafael Penzo, Jaime Acosta y otros salieron con el ahijado y primer bautizado José María Bermúdez, quien desde hace más de quince años no retornaba a su pueblo. Esta ceremonia la preside un obispo llamado en el Festival “Piache” quien en forma solemne y folclórica utilizando una ramita de higuito y con las aguas del río Ranchería, bautiza reclamando en su oración el regreso cada año a Fonseca, además de trabajar siempre en su nombre y engrandeciéndola donde éste resida.
Reseña histórica
Transcurría el año de 1968, más exactamente un 24 de Octubre, fecha en que se celebra la fiesta de “San Rafael”, cuando fueron invitados especiales un grupo de concejales y personalidades de Fonseca a la ciudad de “San Rafael de Mara”, denominada también “El Moján”, situada en el Estado Zulia República de Venezuela, a sus fiestas del “Retorno a Mara”, donde todos los años los hijos de esta ciudad radicados fuera de ella, regresan a esta tierra para celebrar juntos tan especial día.
Los fonsequeros encabezados por Narciso “Tenore” Velásquez, Tomás Enrique Peralta, Nicolás Deluque, Manuel Esteban Cuello Acosta, Orlando García Velásquez, Manuel Escalante García, Marina Cerchar, Edmundo Daza García, Luis Maestre Mendoza, además de otro grupo conformado por miembros del “Club de Leones”, acudieron con mucho regocijo a compartir con los “mareases” esas fiestas, siendo recibidos y atendidos por el ilustre hijo de Fonseca, radicado para esa época en ese país, doctor Jaime Tovar Herrera (Ya desaparecido); esta comisión fue homenajeada por esa comunidad zuliana, trayendo como consecuencia “La Hermandad Bolivariana de nuestro pueblo con la ciudad visitada”.
En 1972, después de amoldar esa experiencia a este medio, se llevó a cabo en Fonseca el primer evento socio-cultural-religioso de esta comarca llamado “Festival del Retorno” tocándole la suerte a don Tomás Enrique Peralta (fallecido), alcalde municipal para ese entonces, quien dio decisivo impulso a esta idea del profesor Narciso Segundo Velásquez Romero “Tenore” (fallecido) quien era para esa época presidente del Concejo municipal; junto con la dirección del también educador Efraín Medina Pumarejo “Fracho” se llevó a cabo uno de los mejores eventos de que se tenga historia en esta región; quedando perpetuado el lema eterno del festival “Fonseca, volver a ti es repetir la dicha de nacer”. Se conjuga en el Festival del Retorno, la religiosidad y devoción de un pueblo, con sus costumbres, mitos y leyendas, aquí se le rinde culto al “fonsequero neto” y a todo aquel que dice ser serio, porque lleva dentro de sus entrañas “sabor a tierra” como lo expresa el gran juglar fonsequero Carlos Huertas. Aquí se vuelve a bautizar en público a aquel fonsequero que tenga muchos años de no venir al pueblo; aquí se escucha el canto de la mujer fonsequera; se prende la cumbiamba para que se baile la “Colita Abierta” “Colita Cerrá” aquí se reúnen los fonsequeros a cargar al patrono San Agustín; aquí en este festival se le abren las puertas del corazón a todos los visitantes para que eternamente queden dentro de cada uno de los fonsequeros.
Es Fonseca y su festival, un espacio de paz y progreso social, donde se reúne la cultura, el deporte y la ciencia.
